We love a great “adults only” getaway with our closest friends, and Hotel Van Zandt is one of our favorite escapes when we’d like to let loose, relax, and explore Austin.
In case you haven’t heard, the music scene in Austin is pretty spectacular. It’s definitely comparable to Nashville, Hollywood, Memphis, and all the other live-music-loving hot spots you’ve ever dreamed of. When our friends get together, music’s definitely on the menu and this hotel is considered a favorite among scene “tastemakers.” Psst: Condé Nast Traveler called it the “#1 Hotel in Texas.”
Boutique, trendy, and a palpable vibe that sets the tone for fun no matter the weather. (Hint: it’s nearly always sunny in Austin.) We never have a hard time staying active while we’re visiting this magnificent city and whether we’re biking, shopping, dancing, or full-body laughing, the options are endless for fitness, too.
Favorite Fitness Finds at Hotel Van Zandt
The gym at Hotel Van Zandt includes everything you need for a full body workout and your dose of daily sweat. Additionally, the ultra accommodating staff is always more than willing to help you source some extra challenging classes off the property.
Get outdoors and enjoy Austin! Biking and hiking are seriously some of my most favorite activities for fitness in the Austin area. Breathtaking views, beautifully lush greenery, lakes, and serene landscapes are waiting for you to explore! The Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail at Lady Bird Lake is ten miles long and the perfect opportunity for every fitness level to get out and enjoy the beauty of the city – sometimes you’ll even forget that you’re in the center of it all! We took full advantage of the fabulous Kimpton custom bikes to cruise around town and through the park – and, yes, my 6’6’’ husband can bike with the best of them! This was absolutely one of the most memorable moments of our trip.
If you’re into watersports – you’re in luck! Awesome local spots like Live Love Paddle make it easier than ever for you to rent paddleboards or kayaks and even take specialized tours on the water. We were grateful to be able to spend the afternoon testing our skills on Lady Bird Lake. I love how paddling boarding is such an incredible workout, yet often you don’t even notice your hard work and effort because you’re too busy having fun!
Road trip! Chris and I went to Barton Springs during our stay at Hotel Van Zandt and it was absolutely worth the drive. This spring-fed pool is over three acres large, and 997 feet from dam to dam! It stays right around 68 degrees all year long which makes it the perfect spot for a dip on hot Texas summer days. Watching families splashing around, new couples canoodling, and people from every walk of life come together for some healthy simple fun filled my heart.
More Awesome Hotel Van Zandt Features
If your pet can fit through the door, it’s welcome at this hotel. To me, that’s pretty awesome! Of course, as a Kimpton property they make all necessary arrangements to ensure your pet has all of the amenities it needs for an enjoyable stay. The proven therapeutic benefits of traveling with your companion animal or family pet make this a huge draw for so many!
If you haven’t experienced Geraldine’s, the time is now. This delectable dining indulgence is laid back and just what the soul needs now and then. Live music and an “elevated” menu crafted by an accomplished chef. You’re going to be tempted to just stay in and enjoy the tunes once you arrive. The stage setting, dining, and drinks are top notch!
In-Room Spa Services, Self Care, and Relaxation
There’s no need for a spa when it comes to your room! Hotel Van Zandt has successfully brought the best of signature spa services to your doorstep so there’s no need to search for your robe and slippers – they’ve got you covered.
