A quick drive outside of Austin will have you wondering if you’re still in Texas. Rolling hills covered in every shade of green you can imagine greet you on your way to Lake Austin Spa and Resort. This spot is a favorite of mine as a personal getaway and could be a fabulous retreat for a group of friends ready to escape their daily stressors. Though you’re just about twenty minutes from one of the most vibrant cities in the country, you feel a world away encompassed with peace and the beauty of serene wildlife as far as the eye can see.
My trip to Lake Austin Spa Resort included a bit of everything I love. Guests are welcomed to stay as active or as relaxed as they please during their stay, and can feast on a host of chef-inspired “conscientious cuisine,” fine tune their fitness at a specialty class, or enrich their skills through a special lecture or interactive demonstration.

of her mouthwatering, healthy, and extraordinary dishes. I consider myself an amateur chef with the passion of a pro – so any chance I get to learn from the experts I welcome with arms wide open. I so enjoyed my cooking experiences with various chefs during my visit that I’ve returned to this destination twice now to enhance my skills! In fact, during one stay the weather was not on our side so my friends and I found ourselves signing up for extra classes, demos, and spa time – this has been one of my most favorite “happy accidents.”
There’s an activities calendar bursting at the seams with opportunities like paddle boarding, self improvement sessions, learning how to heal and rest in a variety of environments, and even a sundown wine cruise! There’s certainly no shortage of healthy, engaging events and it was delightfully overwhelming planning my days.

Some of my favorite spa treatments I experienced were the Lakehouse Forest Bathing Journey and the Texas Starry Night. Mirroring the peaceful qualities of Shinrin-yoku, this special treatment uses forest woods and citrus to relax and uplift your skin, body, and soul through different stages of your treatment. The perfectly blended combination of herbs, oils, and massage tout to give you the same benefits you’d experience letting yourself soak in the beauty of nature.
The Texas Starry Night is THE sleep remedy for anyone who needs a dose of extra relaxation. This is often an addition and timed as the best way to end your spa treatment with a rich emphasis on Lavender, a warm wrap, and relaxation.
