Traveling to Cali is always in fashion – and when I’m headed to visit old friends and have a long weekend to myself or with my friends, Fashion Island Hotel and Spa in Newport Beach is a favorite of mine. Luxurious accommodations, an emphasis on green living, and being just a stone’s throw away from high end design giants? Yes, please. While writing this I’m tempted to book a stay for one well-deserving mama in desperate need of a shopping splurge!
We fell in love with the SoCal life long ago, so it’s a must that we return for regular visits to see old friends from ours years with the Ducks. Life as an NHL wife means that with every trade and move you’re submerged into a whole new community but luckily it’s also meant I’ve met some of my very best friends and soulmates.
When I think of staying at Fashion Island, my heart flutters because I associate this fabulous property with so many belly laughs, dining delights, and exquisite dates with my husband.

I know that Well Inspired Travels largely focuses on wellness, health, and the best in fitness, but as I’ve said before, it is imperative to fill your life with what you love. It’s good for your health! I’m not one to buy things just for the sake of saying I own them, but I do love classic style, timeless brands, and the quality that comes from the over 100 exclusive boutiques you can shop while visiting Fashion Island.
Shop, Spa, Repeat
There’s nothing like a day at the spa to heal your heels after a day of open-air shopping. The Spa at Fashion Island uses products free of all the “extras” like parabens and the great care given to curate special experiences is obvious.
I love the Lomi Lomi, a full body massage inspired by Polynesian practices. This exquisite treatment envelopes your body in relaxation and boosts my energy with scents of fresh florals. The Travel Recovery treatment uses a special blend of Eucalyptus and Juniper oils to soothe the aches and pains associated with long days of travel. Consider booking your treatment during your next layover – you won’t regret it.
More remedies for the overworked traveler, The Spa has a bevvy of add ons to enhance your stay. Quick facials and massages designed to perk you up and whisk you away to a land where there’s no TSA are waiting!
Fitness at Fashion Island
If shopping isn’t quite enough cardio for you, this hotel has a huge gym that gives you gorgeous pool views while working on your fitness. Take a plunge into one of the many fitness classes that you can arrange with your group or try their fully equipped gym housing all the Matrix machines you need for a whole body workout.
For the Foodies at Fashion Island
Oak Grill is a favorite of ours while we’re staying at Fashion Island or visiting friends in the area. This spot is a sure thing for healthy and flavorful breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Relaxed, sexy, and peaceful, I always enjoy dining at restaurants quiet enough where I can carry on a conversation with my long lost friends and still be able to be mindful while eating. Give the Quinoa Garden Salad a try and pair it with their Grilled Salmon or Seared Scallops – you’ll thank me later.
Whether you prefer to spend your time with personal shoppers or personal trainers, Fashion Island has it all. The beauty of Southern California makes open-air shopping and beachside dining fabulous vacation experiences you won’t soon forget.
