Montage Deer Valley is well known as one of America’s best ski resorts so you might be surprised to find that the Pronger family loves to visit here for outdoor fun in the summer! It’s nearly become a family tradition to venture to Montage as a part of our summer vacation as we get antsy to see the mountains in the springtime. When we can all get together for a special trip like this, it’s truly the peak of the season.
I believe what draws our family back to this destination is the deep emphasis on wellness from the inside out. While staying at Montage Deer Valley we feel nourished – our bodies from the healthy array of dining options, our hearts from the laughter that springs up any time we’re together, and our minds as we’re freed from the rushed pace of everyday living.
Park City Favorites
Salt Lake City and the surrounding area are so near and dear to Chris and my hearts. Every time we’re in the area we take our family to Olympic Park to relive the special time when Chris won an Olympic Gold Medal as a part of Team Canada in the 2002 Winter Olympics.
There’s truly never a dull moment when we visit Montage in Deer Valley. Park City is home to so many fun attractions for active families. My kids look forward to a ride on Alpine Coaster every year at this spot and we’re happy to oblige! (We’re all adrenaline junkies in this family) and it is quickly becoming another Pronger family must while visiting Utah.
Historic Main Street is lined with unique shops and dining spots where you can spend the day window shopping while City Creek Center is an attraction in its own right.
Summertime Activities in Park City
Of course we love skiing, skating, and sledding but there’s nothing like summertime fun at Montage. I grew up riding horses and my family knows that if there’s the opportunity to ride near by that’s where they’ll find me. Between hiking biking, golfing, horseback riding, fishing, and watersports there’s really something for all of us and we’re all ready for a great night’s rest every night.
We’ve become repeat customers at Park City SUP as we’re all eager for a little healthy competition while on vacation. Paddle boarding is an incredible full body exercise and Chris and I love it as much as our kids do. We’ve found the staff to be more than accommodating to the needs of our lively family and they’ve even played referee a time or two during our annual races.
Montage to Moab
Never ones to back down from a challenge, our family is thrilled to have had the opportunity to make the Montage to Moab expedition! A beautiful guided tour of the Arches National Park and Moab Canyonlands. Starting with a private charter and gourmet breakfast, up to seven guests can take this trek to get a once in a lifetime look at the red rock vistas and awe-inspiring landscaping. Our entire family looks back on this special expedition with appreciation and I’ll always remember this journey!
Fitness and Wellness
Beyond the endless wellness options the mountain and Park City provide, Montage offers a fitness center complete with state-of-the-art cardio machines, a Life Fitness strength training and a Life Fitness free weight area. Additionally, the expansive fitness studio includes a crystal clear mosaic lap pool and co-ed whirlpool. If you’re a fan of group fitness classes you can review the schedule of classes before your stay and book those that sound the most intriguing to you.

There’s no better dining experience than venturing out with your family knowing you’re about to partake on a healthy, flavorful journey that you yourself didn’t have to create! I love indulgences that aren’t actually “indulgences” that leave you feeling guilty later.
Montage Deer Valley dining experiences range from handcrafted continental cuisine to chef inspired brunches to the freshest sushi in Park City. Farm-raised beef, artisanal cheeses, and regionally caught fish, and locally grown vegetables make the plates at the resort eateries like Burgers & Bourbon. There’s no shortage of fresh fare, light bites, and more savory offerings for guests and I love knowing that my family is eating wholesome and healthy meals during our stay.
Because we love the mountains in the summer and springtime, we’re outside quite a bit during our visits to Montage Deer Valley. The heated Alpine Pool offers poolside dining where you can watch your family splash between your favorite bites!
Pronger family summer memories are soaked with mountain air thanks to beautiful destinations like Montage. Taking a family of five across the country can be quite the journey, but knowing we’re going to call this luxury Deer Valley resort home for a while makes the trip well worth it!
Perhaps one of my favorite things about Montage Deer Valley is the true-to-the-mountains hospitality. Every evening you’re invited to gather around a glowing fire to roast s’mores! The resort supplies an exquisite buffet of literally everything you could ever crave and s’more. Housemade fluffy pillows of marshmallows are available in vanilla, cinnamon, caramel, chocolate, peppermint flavors and chocolate lovers can choose from dark and milk chocolate. Laughs, sweets, and time together make the perfect way to finish the day in a way we typically wouldn’t at home.
