TRY SOMETHING NEW

I started thinking about one of my favorite quotes today and how this sort of mindset has shaped my life – for the better.

“If you think adventure is dangerous, try routine; it is lethal.” ― Paulo Coelho

We all have our routines – and for the most part, the things we do become routine because they’re either necessary, enjoyable, or both. We do the things that we need to do to take care of our families, we work, we care for our bodies, we keep the bills paid, but what do we do to care for our souls?

I’m not talking about attending your regular Sunday services, I’m talking about doing the things that excite you, scare you, and challenge you in a way that you’ve never experienced before.

I’m talking about:

When is the last time you did something for the first time?

Sharing those special “should we?” moments right before you do something wild like jump off the side of a boat, trying the flavor of a new and possibly terrible food, exchanging ideas and having incredible conversation with a complete stranger. I believe that being open to new opportunities is the first step to living a life that’s full of wonder. If you’re stuck in the same routine every day and you’re not open to switching things up imagine what you’ll miss!
