While at the Langham, don’t miss the culinary delights at Michelin-starred restaurant Ai Fiori, which has also been included in Esquire Magazine’s List of Best New Restaurants in America. - NYC, NY: MIDTOWN
These Luxury Travel Consultants have arrived at the final leg of our ‘We Love New York’ virtual tour. This week we are exploring Lower Manhattan where, in the 1600s, before the skyscrapers and cultural landmarks, the original City of New York started. Take in the views from the top of One World Trade Center, admire the cast iron in Soho, invest in the history of Wall Street or marvel at The Vessel in Hudson Yards. All throughout Lower Manhattan you will find gleaming new buildings mingling with landmark architecture just waiting to be admired. So here we go again to New York, New York and some of the very best in trendy five-star luxury lodging. The Beekman Hotel Located in the heart of Lower Manhattan, where iconic architecture meets modern luxury, is The Beekman Hotel. Surrounded by some of Manhattan’s most cherished attractions, including One World Trade which stands as a shining beacon for the “new Downtown” and is a dramatic and meaningful addition to the skyline as the Western Hemisphere’s tallest building. The Beekman has been recognized by Conde Nast Traveler as both the 2019 #1 hotel in New York and #8 in the United States. Housed in the 1883 Temple Court building, the entire space has been lovingly restored to its former beauty and is now one of the city’s most exceptional destinations. At the center of the hotel is the stunning nine-story atrium whose upper levels are decorated with Victorian wrought-iron railings and balustrades. On the main floor the atrium forms a focal point where guests can meet to enjoy the intimate, lobby seating areas below. Each of the 287 rooms and suites are fun and funky with hip décor that includes leather headboards, wood armoires, and blue Chinese dragon lamps. We love the two penthouses located in the building’s two distinctive turrets. They are sure to impress with their own private entrance, separate rooftop terrace, over 1,200 square feet, and the most amazing views of the Brooklyn Bridge. Let WIT set you up in pure style and comfort here. The Dominick Hotel Located in SoHo is The Dominick Hotel, the only independent hotel in New York with the exclusive Five Diamond accolade from AAA, and one of three premier hotels in New York City prestigious enough to be part of the Preferred Hotel & Resorts Legend Collection. This hotel’s mid-century design esthetic is realized in the 391 rooms and suites offered hosting a variety of sizes. We love the exclusive SoHi and Penthouse Suites on the top floors that serve up incredible views of New York City’s gorgeous skyline, including landmarks such as the Empire State Building, One World Trade Center, and magnificent sunsets over the Hudson River. New York City’s Soho neighborhood is known around the world for having the largest collection of historic cast iron architecture. Before the neighborhood received its name, Soho was referred to as the ‘Cast Iron District.’ A wonderful example of early Soho cast-iron architecture is the Gunther Building at the southwest corner of Broome and Greene Streets. Griffin Thomas, an architect who created a large number of the neighborhood's historic structures, designed the building in 1871, and completed it in 1873. As you meander the streets of SoHo, you will be astounded at the detail on these beautiful buildings. Crosby Street Hote Between SoHo’s Prince and Spring Streets, find the intimate Crosby Street Hotel. As you enter the hotel you will be greeted by Crosby the Cat, a cheeky 12ft bronze cat from world-renowned sculptor Fernando Botero, which sets the stage for this truly fresh and hip 86 room hotel. The brainchild and creative vision of Kit Kemp, Creative Director and Owner of London based Firmdale Hotel, we love the floor-to-ceiling warehouse style windows and the individual style of every room. The public space has the feel of an artist’s home with an airy lobby that leads to the drawing room and out to a secluded sculpture garden. When at the Crosby, let WIT secure for you the one-of-a-kind Meadow Suite. This incredible two-bedroom suite on the second floor comes with its own private American woodland meadow terrace, complete with a living apple tree and green lawn connected just outside the suite. So unique! The Conrad New York Downtown The Conrad New York Downtown is ideally positioned in Lower Manhattan overlooking the Hudson River and minutes from TriBeCa, Greenwich Village and Wall Street. The 463 all-suite hotel offers luxe comfort and spaciousness. The impressive Conrad Suite feels more like a posh New York apartment with over 1,500 square feet of space which can be converted into a family, two-bedroom suite. Located on the top floor of the building, here you will delight in the panoramic views of Lower Manhattan and beyond! WIT is happy to put together a trip on a historic tour of Wall Street guided by a former financial expert for the best insider tips. Begin with landmarks like New York Stock Exchange, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York Building, Goldman Sachs and Deutsche Bank. Learn about the more than 400 years of history that led to today’s Wall Street — from the Dutch trading outpost of the 1700’s to the simple start of the New York Stock Exchange, to the current financial epicenter that Wall Street has become. You will be in awe of this area’s rich history and architecture to include Federal Hall where George Washington became President, and Trinity Church, the burial place of Alexander Hamilton. Plus, you can snap a selfie with the famous Charging Bull! The Greenwich Hotel The Greenwich Hotel is located in one of New York City’s most hailed downtown neighborhoods, at the corner of Greenwich Street and North Moore Street in TriBeCa. Here you’ll find yourself close to the trendy areas of Soho, the West Village, the Meatpacking District and Gramercy Park. This boutique hotel presents a total of 88 exclusive rooms, of which no two are alike. In addition, the Greenwich Hotel has thirteen suites. We love the two duplex suites that are meant to evoke the feel of an artist’s ateliers, both have soaring 30-foot skylights, chef’s kitchens, two master bedrooms with two bathrooms, stone fireplaces, and offices with separate entrances. When traveling with the family or a group of friends, each of these duplex residences can be expanded to accommodate up to five bedrooms. You must check out the hotel’s intimate, lantern-lit swimming pool which is housed in a 250-year-old pine farmhouse transported from Kyoto. This high design, concept hotel is truly distinctive (like its owner Robert DeNiro)! Equinox Hotel Situated on the west side of Manhattan where the acclaimed ‘High Line’ begins and ends, is Hudson Yards, New York’s newest and trendiest area. Here you will find more than 100 shops and culinary experiences, 14 acres of open public green space and Thomas Heatherwick’s celebrated (and IG worthy) The Vessel, an interactive public landmark spanning 154 intricately interconnecting flights of stairs. The centerpiece of Hudson Yards is the brand-new Equinox Hotel, offering 212 spacious, scientifically curated guest rooms and 48 suites. This hotel is a fitness enthusiast dream come true, as you have access to the 60,000-square-foot Equinox fitness club, offering signature group fitness classes and personal training programs complete with a 25-yard indoor saltwater lap pool, heated and cooling plunge pools and outdoor leisure pool. Walk the High Line, marvel at The Vessel and check out the incredible dining options within the Hudson Yard’s complex. WIT has very close relationships with these properties, so we can extend exclusive perks and special amenities to our clients. Typically, you will receive complimentary breakfast for two daily, $100 or more resort credit to be utilized during your stay, room upgrade, either at the time of booking or arrival, and early check-in/late checkout, both subject to availability. At Well Inspired Travels, we love being luxury travel consultants and creating the ultimate experiences for you. - THE HAMPTONS, NY
It may be just ninety minutes from New York City, but once you step foot into the Hamptons, you will feel like you have discovered a whole new world. The Hamptons consists of a group of towns, villages and hamlets set on stunning beaches along the east end of Long Island that have gained fame for an abundance of summer homes for entertainers and celebs, and New York City’s elite. What you will find during this week’s five-star travel is that the Hamptons are a great vacation destination with beach-chic living, transformational experiences, salt air, and delicious lobster rolls. So, pour yourself a glass of wine and kick off your shoes, because these Luxury Travel Consultants are off to the Hamptons! Topping Rose House First stop is the elegant and chic Bridgehampton. Known for its beautiful and large homes, posh shopping and great restaurants, Bridgehampton also has some of the most serene stretches of beach you can walk while taking in the magnificent waterfront homes. For horse lovers, Bridgehampton is also home to the prestigious Hampton Classic Horse Show and the Mercedes-Benz Polo Challenge. In this lovely hamlet we find Topping Rose House, the Hamptons' first full-service hotel. The hotel’s prime location puts it between three of the Hampton’s most popular destinations: Southampton, East Hampton and Sag Harbor. Built in 1842 for one of Bridgehampton’s most prominent citizens, Topping Rose House has been lovingly renovated to retain its original charm while updated with luxe amenities and comforts. We love this quaint property’s 16 guest rooms and 6 stellar suites spread out among three distinct locations: Main House, Studio and Cottages. The hotel also offers a lovely spa by local wellness center Naturopathica, a Jean-Georges restaurant, heated outdoor pool, complimentary bikes, plus guest shuttle service to the beautiful beaches and local attractions in Bridgehampton. Whether it’s touring the scenic windmills of the east end (where you will find the largest concentration of windmills in the U.S. built between 1795 and 1820), or antiquing in Sag Harbor. Shou Sugi Ban House Some come to the beach to disconnect and find inner peace. If that sounds like your cup of green tea, we invite you to check out Shou Sugi Ban House. Set on three acres of land, this thirteen-room destination spa and retreat is steeped in global wellness and healing practices and bills itself as “the only comprehensive wellness program in the Hamptons”. Featuring holistic living, nutrition, education, fitness, meditation, bodywork and more, Shou Sugi Ban is set up for your total transformation. This retreat is inspired by the principals of wabi-sabi, defined as a world view centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection. This retreat delivers packages that offer an abundance of wellbeing and mindful activities like Radical Self Care, Juicing and Blending, Qigong, Tea Traditions, Breathwork and Yoga. Although you can book activities individually, guests are encouraged to book a wellness activity paired with a meal, spa treatment or as part of a custom package over several days. We love the spa’s zero-gravity Wellness Bath where you can soak to alleviate inflammation, digestion and sleep issues in a thoughtful curation of salts, clay, oils and herbs. We say book a few days at Shou Sugi Ban as part of your beach vacation for the best of both worlds! On the easternmost end of the island is Montauk, although now becoming quite posh, it is still considered the more low-key part of the Hamptons. Did you know Montauk is the largest commercial fishing fleet in New York state, making it a destination for recreational fishermen and coastal visitors alike. Surfers are also attracted to Montauk, due to its variety of waves and easy access. Let WIT plan a day of surfing at the ever popular and insider-cool, Ditch Plains. Start with a breakfast burrito from Ditch Witch, a deceptively small food trailer with a super tasty menu. Once you’ve had a bite to eat let the wave riding lessons commence. We love working with Montauk Boardriders, who will have you hanging ten like Kelly Slater in no time! Gurney’s Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa Located on Montauks most pristine stretch of oceanfront real estate is Gurney’s Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa, a perennial Hamptons icon and the only year-round resort in Montauk. Providing guests with direct access to a 2,000-foot private sand beach, the family friendly Gurney’s features 146 rooms, suites, beachfront cottages, and two residences all delivering stunning ocean views. Take a dip in Gurney’s ocean-fed seawater pool, the only pool of its kind in North America. Make sure you check out Gurney’s Beach Club for the ultimate in a Hamptons summer experience. See and be seen as you enjoy a relaxing beach day with all the comforts, like beach chairs and umbrellas and King-size daybeds that can be rented for truly supreme indulgence. We love Gurney’s weekly Lobster Bake which includes all of the traditional favorites: Rosemary Biscuits, Seafood Chowder, Steamed 1.5-pound Lobster, Clams and Mussels, Corn and Steamed Yukon Golds and Apple & Rhubarb Pie! Gurney’s Star Island Resort and Marina Just six miles away, on the South Fork side of Montauk, is sister property, Gurney’s Star Island Resort and Marina. Opened about a year ago, on the former Montauk Yacht Club site, Star Island and Marina offers up the same luxury and attention to detail as the original with a maritime twist. If private yachts are your dream, WIT will find you the perfect luxury sea vessel to check all of your boxes. You can “tie up” here at one of Yachting Magazine’s “Top Ten marina destinations in North America, Mexico and the Bahamas.” We love that Marina guests have full access to Gurney’s Resorts’ amenities, wellness activations, and other lifestyle programming. For the land lovers, Star Island and Marina offers 107 luxury waterfront hotel rooms, suites, or villas set on 15 acres. All guests on land or sea have access to the sister property’s beach club and spa with on demand shuttle service available between the two. - PHILADELPHIA, PA
Looking for a leisurely family trip that’s chock full of history, public art and fun, all rolled up in an easy city location….welcome to Philadelphia! Whether it’s running the Rocky steps, devouring a cheesesteak, touring Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell, or visiting a museum on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia offers up some exciting activities that are also homeschool worthy (but don’t tell the kids, they’ll just think it’s fun)! Top it all off with five-star luxury travel in a city that is easy to reach by car or plane. You can thank these Luxury Travel Consultants later, because right now we are off to The City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Running the “Rocky” steps (actually The Art Museum Steps) is considered a rite of passage when visiting Philadelphia and should not be missed. Simply hum the movie’s theme song until you reach the top to where the movie action actually happened. Pump your fists at the bigger than life sculpture, originally created for Rocky III, and then became a real-life monument of the fictional Rocky Balboa commemorated in bronze in 1980 and donated to the City of Philadelphia by actor Sylvester Stallone himself. Speaking of public art, check out LOVE Park where the famous pop art sculpture of the words LOVE is housed. This very popular destination for both locals and tourists alike, serves as the entrance to the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. The park’s real name is actually John F. Kennedy Plaza but received its nickname due to its famous LOVE sculpture. The Benjamin Franklin Parkway, was modeled after the Avenue des Champs-Élysées in Paris and is sometimes called “Philadelphia’s most artistic mile”. Some of the city’s most important cultural institutions are housed here, including the Barnes Foundation, The Franklin Institute, The Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University, the Rodin Museum and the crowning Philadelphia Museum of Art. While historical attractions abound in Philly, Independence Hall holds monumental significance to the development of the nation. In 1776, the Founding Fathers signed the Declaration of Independence in the building’s Assembly Room. Today, the UNESCO World Heritage Site is the centerpiece of Independence National Historical Park which includes The Liberty Bell, whose inscription still rings loud and clear: “Proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof.” This cracked, but mighty bell was, and still is, a symbol to abolitionists, suffragists and other freedom-seekers around the world. Let WIT put together a look and learn tour for the family complete with docent and transportation. We can build an itinerary around whatever your kids are studying in school! From Redding Market with stalls and vendors, to The Italian Market, the world's OLDEST and largest outdoor market, that has not changed in 100 years, no Philadelphia experience is complete without a nod to the city’s most iconic culinary offering: the Philly Cheesesteak. A mouthwatering crusty roll filled with delicately sautéed rib eye beef, and usually Cheez Whiz cheese on top. Making its official debut in 1930 when hot dog vendor Pat Olivieri decided to experiment with various ingredients, the city takes its famous edible tradition very seriously and can be found in sub shops, delis and even some pizzerias situated around the city. Don’t leave town without trying one of these! Four Seasons Hotel Right in the center of the city, are three acclaimed and highly recommended hotels: Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia at Comcast Center, The Ritz Carlton Philadelphia and Loews Philadelphia Hotel. First, we visit the skyline’s tallest tower at Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia at Comcast Center. Located atop a 60-story landmark building, the newly opened hotel’s infinity-edge pool is a must see! Discover restaurants by Michelin-starred chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten and James Beard Award-winner Greg Vernick, and a 57th-floor spa sanctuary. Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia provides a superb experience with its 219 rooms, including 39 suites, all of which are located on the 48th to 56th floors for the most stunning views of the city. Here in the sky is the perfect landing pad as you easily explore the heart of the city just outside your door. The Ritz-Carlton Next up is the iconic city landmark, The Ritz-Carlton, Philadelphia. We are delighted about the newly renovated guest rooms, suites, and public spaces all inspired by the building’s banking history and the local cultural arts scene. Check out the extensive art collection within the hotel as it pays homage to the robust Philly art community. The Ritz-Carlton, Philadelphia Center City hotel features 301 guest rooms and suites with all the modern amenities that the savviest travelers would expect. We love booking our clients in the exclusive Ritz-Carlton Club floor, complete with a Club Lounge on the 30th floor, which features continuous culinary presentations throughout the day. Loews Philadelphia Hotel Our final destination is Loews Philadelphia Hotel, which is topped by the red neon letters PSFS, for the former tenant, Pennsylvania Savings Fund Society. This 1930s building was the country's first skyscraper designed in the ultramodern international style that was all the rage in the 1930’s. Now the 581 newly renovated guestrooms, including 12 suites and 54 club rooms are decked out with all the comforts one could want, including complimentary toys and games available for children. Don’t miss the 15,000-square-foot state-of-the-art fitness center for a sauna and a steam. From here you can plot your next adventure in charming Philly! Mandarin Oriental Boston As we move around town, in the Back Bay neighborhood, is Mandarin Oriental Boston, where guests experience Asian aesthetics balanced with classic New England elegance. The Whitney The newest property in Beacon Hill is The Whitney, that opened its doors in June 2019. - MIAMI, FL: PART I
Move over South Beach, this week these Luxury Travel Consultants are heading to Miami’s newly minted hot spot, the Brickell District. Brickell, which is sometimes compared to New York City, is a walkable chunk of downtown Miami full of shopping, restaurants and some great local culture at Museum Park, Wynwood area and the Design District. The best part is WIT has some of the best five-star luxury lodging just a stone’s throw away from all the action. We love this area and it wasn’t long ago that Brickell, Miami’s financial district south of the Miami River and bordering Biscayne Bay, was deserted after all the young professionals fled the area after work for far trendier places. Today, there’s so much to do in this hot section of Miami, we say come and stay in this glamorous and well-located area to soak in all the sun and sea. EAST Miami Hotel Let’s start with EAST Miami Hotel, located smack dab in the middle of Miami’s famous street art, suburb shopping and a short stroll to the Miami River and Biscayne Bay. Trendy and luxe, EAST Miami bills itself as a “lifestyle hotel with an Asian twist” and ranks as Swire Hotels’ first venture into North America, following the openings of EAST in Hong Kong and Beijing. EAST Miami boasts a whopping 352 rooms and 1,2 and 3 bedroom-suites, all the epitome of cool. Take a dip in the fifth-floor pool, or head to Sugar, the Zen rooftop bar and garden for magnificent Miami views. We love Tea Room, a hidden door speakeasy style lounge that will transport you to Hong Kong for the evening without ever leaving the building. Conveniently connected to Brickell City Centre, downtown Miami’s upscale shopping destination, with four floors of vibrant shops like Saks Fifth Avenue, Chopard, Emporio Armani and Kendra Scott. So, whether you’re looking for a Miami worthy bikini or shopping for something fun and flirty to wear out at night, this is the place to be. Four Seasons Hotel Also, in the heart of Brickell, is Four Seasons Hotel; a prestigious multi-use complex with 221 spacious guest rooms, including 39 suites, all housed in a 70-story tower overlooking Biscayne Bay. The hotel boasts the fabulous Palm Grove Pool, a tree lined, two-acre pool terrace with private cabanas and three distinct swimming pools. Guests also have access to The Sports Club/LA offering 50,000 square feet of state-of-the-art fitness facilities, including personal trainers and a broad range of fitness classes. Once you have your sea legs, from Biscayne Bay to the Atlantic Ocean, WIT has countless ways for you to enjoy Miami on or in the blue water. If a yacht charter, with all the amenities, is what you crave, we have some incredible vessels and staff to take care of you. - MIAMI, FL: PART II
It's trendy, it’s Art Deco, it’s nightlife on steroids, it’s white sand beaches and clear blue water, it’s an exhilarating place to be. You guessed it; right now these Luxury Travel Consultants are heading to South Beach. Also known as the American Riviera, SOBE (South Beach) is an eclectic mix of iconic architecture, haute cocktails at celeb-packed clubs, culinary hot spots, miles of beach and of course, some of the best five-star accommodations in the Miami area. We’re off to discover the past and the present melded together in the most glam way possible as we leave for South Beach, Miami. Four Seasons Hotel at The Surf Club From the moment it first opened its doors on New Year’s Eve 1930, The Surf Club has been rooted in history. With a star studded past, including the likes of Frank Sinatra, Elizabeth Taylor and Winston Churchill, the Four Seasons Hotel at The Surf Club’s timeless style finds the perfect balance in a newly reimagined hotel. Set on nine-acres of pristine oceanfront with 105 rooms, suites and the best bungalows, you can spend your day shopping, sunbathing or heading to the spa. When you are ready to transition to your evening festivities, indulge in an Aperitivo at the Champagne Bar, winner of Virtuoso’s Best Bar award in 2019. Hard as it may be to leave the Surf Club, WIT is here to coax you off property by land or by sea. We love the Miami Design Preservation League’s Art Deco Walking Tour, where you will learn about Miami’s Art Deco, Mediterranean Revival and Miami Modern (MiMo) styles, found within the Architectural Historic District of South Beach. If the water is calling you, let us plan a private Zodiac Boat excursion with expert local guides exploring secluded insider locations and popular landmarks. We are huge fans of working with tours that include environmentally diverse areas like Biscayne National Park, the largest underwater park in the US, known for its abundant marine life and vast underwater preservation areas. The Ritz-Carlton South Beach Inspired by its 1950s Art Deco building, The Ritz-Carlton South Beach, pays tribute to the vibrant culture and lively history of Miami in a truly glamourous way. After a complete transformation, the oceanfront resort was recently named one of the best new hotels in the world by Town & Country Magazine. Here in the heart of SOBE, the Ritz offers 376 guest rooms and suites, including two poolside lanai wings in the style of early Miami Beach…..think Sinatra and the Rat Pack! We are totally enamored with the hotel’s Club Level where you have all the attention of a dedicated concierge and complimentary culinary offerings throughout the day including breakfast, lunch, dessert and a selection of wines, beers, spirits and other beverages. Check out the massive outdoor pool with ocean views and private cabanas for your much needed nap before you head out for the night. Club hopping is a rite of passage on South Beach and there’s no dance club more popular than LIV, located at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach. A popular hangout for world-renowned DJs and every A-list celebrity under the sun dancing the night away. For a night into day into night experience, try Mango’s Tropical Café where you can party from lunch through dinner and then stay all night. Mango’s is an over-the-top version of the 1920’s Tropicana Club in Havana. Enjoy a lively show at all hours of the day and night while you kick back with a Mojito (or two). Attracting some of Miami’s most fabulous partygoers (even on weeknights) is BASEMENT at the EDITION . This disco in disguise is a modern day tribute to Studio 54, complete with a glowing bar, bowling alley, ice skating rink, and of course, dancing. Miami Beach EDITION Speaking of Miami Beach EDITION, here are 3.5 acres of luxury beachfront nestled between South Beach and North Beach. This dreamy resort environment is in the heart of Miami Beach with 294 spacious and sophisticated accommodations, including bi-level suites with a private plunge pool and sauna. You will love the views as the EDITION overlooks 70,000 square feet of Miami beachfront with private access to the beach with chaises, umbrellas and towel service. The entire lushly landscaped outdoor space at The EDITION is appropriately named Tropicale, inspired by the legendary 1950s Havana nightclub Tropicana with two private pools surrounded by loungers and luxury cabanas. In addition, it includes dining options from the renounced Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten and the Lobby Bar, a throwback to the 1950’s Miami glamour, you may consider never leaving the resort! W South Beach Steps away from the Atlantic Ocean, is W South Beach, a cool and classy landing pad in the wild world of South Beach. Located on iconic Collins Ave, W is walking distance to clubs, shops and parks. The hotel boasts 350 large guest rooms with oversized private balconies and unparalleled ocean views. We love that the W has both WET, the amazing heated pool deck and SAND their private, full-service beach. Check out the truly unique SWISH & SWING basketball and tennis courts located on the rooftop of the hotel before you experience true mixology via the eclectic handcrafted cocktail selection at Living Room Bar and Irma’s right on property. Miami has become a true culinary destination with old time favs, celeb chefs and new local heroes plating up some truly inspired cuisine. When in Miami, it’s kind of a thing to say you have been to Joe’s Stone Crab House. This classic South Beach establishment is known for its fresh stone crab claws and has been in Miami for over 100 years! It attracts locals, tourists and celebs, serving seasonal stone crabs (October–May) with a “secret” sauce, garlic creamed spinach, fried sweet potatoes, coleslaw and hash browns. For those seeking a celeb chef cuisine, we love everything about The Bazaar by culinary giant José Andrés. Perhaps that’s because the food and overall vibe of the place are a journey into Chef’s mind, bringing a playful spirit to every plate offered up. The menu is lively, combining elements of Spain and Latin America to wind up with dishes like Papas a la Huancaína (Peruvian potatoes with sea urchin) and Cuban coffee-rubbed churrasco with passionfruit. We also want to support Chef Andres who has been recognized as a true humanitarian as the founder of World Central Kitchen, a non-profit devoted to providing meals in the wake of natural disasters. Our last recommendation is all about the veggies at Planta, Chef David Lee’s restaurant that is crafting incredible food that’s sustainable and not using any animal products. He showcases how plant-based eating can be healthy and environmental while still actually tasting good. Try his vegan burger. If you didn’t know it, you’d never guess it was plant based. In addition to bespoke body treatments like Masaje con Flor Blanca, that will induce bliss and calm the nerves, and Verbena Detox, a customized healing ritual that includes dry brush and verbena exfoliation to remove toxins, Tierra Santa has truly special treatments like Pranic Healing, Palo Santo & Sound Bowls, a three part energetic purification ritual beginning with a thorough cleansing and balancing of the chakras. The body is further purified with the gentle uplifting aroma of Palo Santo smoke, a sacred tree from the east coast of South America known for its mystical healing properties. To finish the treatment, sound bowls are used to quiet the mind through vibration sound harmonics that synchronize brainwave frequencies. We love the South American, time-honored shamanic healing rituals that are combined with magical ingredients and are all ethically sourced. Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. – Anne Lamott 1 Hotel South Beach Restore and rework are the ethos behind the 1 Hotels Brand, known for deriving authentic materials and inspiration from their locations. 1 Hotel South Beach is no exception, located on 600-feet of beach on the Atlantic Ocean, and is beautifully designed with reclaimed materials, living walls, and salvaged driftwood and glass, that all blend seamlessly with true luxe comfort in each of the 425 rooms and suites. From sunrise to sunset, you can center and balance 18 stories up at the 30,000-square-foot rooftop pool deck, or unplug at the Bamford Wellness Spa. The first in the United States, the Bamford Wellness Spa is devoted to nurturing the mind, body and spirit in connection with nature. Originally created by Carole Bamford in the English Countryside, individually crafted treatments use specially formulated products made from natural and organic ingredients. We love to reset and recharge our batteries with B Silent Treatment developed to improve sleep quality. Your treatment starts with a stress-reducing footbath, opening the body’s meridians and beginning the process of deep relaxation. Next, experience a full back massage followed by a series of assisted stretches and Japanese Shiatsu rocking releases to loosen the hips, unlock the lower back, and gently rotate the spine. Finally, B Silent Temple Balm is applied to the forehead and temples to prepare the body and mind for deep relaxation. “It is so important to take time for yourself and find clarity. The most important relationship is the one you have with yourself.” - Diane Von Furstenberg The Betsy We love that The Betsy is designed to be a stylish “destination with purpose” all centered on taking time to find yourself. - MONTREAL, CANADA
We end our Canadian tour in Montréal, the largest city in Québec province and second largest French speaking city in the world. Set on the Saint Lawrence River and named after Mount Royal, the triple-peaked hill majestically rising up in the heart of the city from what it was named after. Montreal’s iconic green space at the base of the hill, Mount Royal Park, was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, of New York City's Central Park fame. This five-star city also has the highest number of restaurants per capita in Canada with a robust foodie scene that puts the world’s other food destinations to shame. From their French pastries to street cart poutine, to fine dining, the food in Montreal is eclectic, delicious and abundant. Pair this up with the most luxurious accommodations, and this week your Luxury Travel Consultants are celebrating Montreal! W Hotel Montreal Set at the crossroads of the downtown district and Old Montreal, is W Hotel Montreal. This modern and sexy hotel boasts 124 rooms and 28 suites with a chic black and white color scheme highlighted with pops of color. The W is your home away from home as you head to investigate your own culinary journey in Old Montreal curated for you by WIT. Start the morning at Jean-Talon Market, a European-style open market and a foodie’s dream come true. We will pair you up with a local chef as you discover flowers and plants, a vast array of fruits and vegetables, an oyster bar, live lobsters for the choosing, fresh sausage, tea, and more specialty goods. The market’s center is home to ready-made food stands and is the perfect place to have an international snack or lunch. Don’t miss out on the small shops outside the market for dry goods and unique culinary tools you can pack and take home with you. Upon return to the W, take a break at Bartizen, the hotel’s lounge inspired by Montreal’s 1949 social scene. Here you will discover craft cocktails and new flavors with “Gineology”, their specialty gin selections. The Ritz-Carlton, Montréal Known lovingly as “the Grande Dame of Sherbrooke Street”, The Ritz-Carlton, Montréal has set the bar for luxury hotels in North America since 1912. Following a recent $200 million transformation, the hotel’s 98 guest rooms and 31 suites have been reimagined for the most discerning, modern traveler with luxe comfort in mind. From the rooftop pool and full-service Spa St. James, to the romantic cuisine at Maison Boulud, and legendary afternoon tea at Palm Court, The Ritz is positioned for your enjoyment. Within steps of high-end boutiques, galleries, museums, and main attractions, such as Mount Royal Park, Old Montréal, and the Old Port, the city is your oyster. Upon return to the hotel, you can indulge with a curated cocktail menu in the newly renovated Dom Perignon Bar or the new Grand Marnier Lounge. No trip to this city is complete without trying “Montreal smoked meat”, la viande fumée, and the world famous Schwartz’s, the classic deli to get your fill. You must try a Montreal bagel, which Quebecois insist is far superior to the New York bagel! We recommend you visit St. Viateur and decide for yourself. And of course, we must not forget Poutine! Many late nights in Montreal end with a plate of poutine (fries drenched in gravy and cheese curds). The good news is you can enjoy this decadent Canadian rite of passage anytime, and among the best is La Banquise in the Plateau neighborhood of Montreal. Four Seasons Hotel Montreal At the foot of Mount Royal, the bustling Golden Square Mile is known for its Victorian-era architecture, McGill University campus, the McCord Museum on Canadian history and culture, and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. Amid this fantastic one-mile area, we find Four Seasons Hotel Montreal. This sleek 169 room and suite hotel is in an ideal location to explore the area any time of the year. You will love that Four Seasons is conveniently connected to Holt Renfrew Ogilvy, a high-end department store for all your shopping desires. After your retail therapy, we suggest you refresh in the Marcus Lounge + Bar or visit Marcus Restaurant + Terrace, both from trendsetting and celebrity Chef Marcus Samuelsson. The Sofitel Montreal Golden Mile To cast a wider net, Montreal has an amazing Underground City, which is a series of interconnected tunnels beneath the city that run for over 32km. The tunnels connect shopping malls, over 2000 stores, 7 metro stations, universities, banks, offices, museums, and restaurants. The Sofitel Montreal Golden Mile is another wonderful property inside the Golden Mile with access to the “underground”. Here you will have your pick from 239 elegant rooms and 17 suites that seamlessly blend “minimalist design and warm sophistication”. We love the amenities that include a collection of indulgent products from Lanvin and Hermès bath products. Fairmont, The Queen Elizabeth Also, in the Underground City is the totally reinvented and classic Fairmont, The Queen Elizabeth. This glamourous icon has 950 well-appointed rooms including 100 suites with the option to upgrade to Fairmont Gold and enjoy an exclusive lifestyle hotel, designed for exceptional, personalized service. This hotel is home to the legendary John Lennon and Yoko Ono suite, site of the 1969 “bed-in for peace” that has been completely renovated with a virtual reality experience and plenty of in-room surprises. We also love the 3,000-sq.-ft. Royal Suite, the largest in the city complete with a private panoramic elevator and stunning views of the downtown skyline. For another Montreal classic, let WIT plan a trip to visit a cabanes à sucre or Sugar Shack, the charming cabins in the woods outside of Montreal that are the traditional homes of maple sugar and syrup production. Plan a visit during “sugar time” (February through April) for the full range of activities. We love that the popular Montreal restaurant Au Pied du Cochon has its own sugar shack, slightly more chic than the family-owned ones where you can enjoy a fixed menu to share with the members of your group, inspired by their seasonal harvests. We also invite you to visit the restaurant in town for hearty Quebec dishes like poutine and pouding chômeur. You’ll be happy you did! Toronto, the capital of Ontario, is the largest city in Canada and the fifth largest in North America. The city is also home to an exciting mix of tourist attractions, chic shopping, eclectic restaurants and more. We love to plan excursions to the Toronto Islands, the world-famous CN Tower or even nearby Niagara Falls. We love the highly personal St. Regis butler service available to assist with any request, be it personal or professional. Make sure you checkout LOUIX LOUIS, inspired by Toronto’s heritage as one of the largest distillery districts in the world during the turn of the 19th century. The dramatic interior is designed to represent the inside of a glistening crystal whiskey glass with a glamorous two-story-high bar showcasing over 500 dark spirits. Once you have seen this bar, you will be drawn to The Distillery District, a collection of Victorian Industrial buildings that has transformed into a place “where artists, artisans, entrepreneurs and business people could rub shoulders and inspire each other”. The restoration and transformation of the original 47 buildings is where you’ll find Victorian Industrial architecture blended seamlessly with 21st century design and creativity. WIT will have you picked up at the hotel and whisked away to see this iconic wonder of nature. Whether by water on a Hornblower Cruise, which takes you up close to the massive main falls, or by land with a detour to the enchanting little town, Niagara-on-the-Lake, known for its wineries and flower-filled streets, your custom excursion will exceed all expectations. Come back to town to check into the Shangri-La Hotel Toronto, delivering the best of Asian traditions in a unique and contemporary fashion. The 202 rooms and suites occupy the first 17 floors of a 66-story tower. Check out the Lobby Lounge, known as “Toronto's urban living room”, a chic respite from the city, with touches like a floating fireplace and a fashionable collection of couture masterpieces on display. During the day, we love to break away for a lovely afternoon tea, and then head back in the evening to enjoy live music and craft cocktails. - THE PHOENICIAN: PART II
Scottsdale, Arizona is a fabulous destination for just about any occasion and you need not look any further than The Phoenician for booking your stay. Planning a bachelorette or bachelor party? The local nightlife is perfect. Booking a guy's golf trip? You'll be hard-pressed to find a more beautiful course destination. Need a getaway with the family? There are endless activities, including a kids’ waterpark. Since receiving a major renovation in 2018, The Phoenician was given the 2020 Forbes Five Star Award for their spectacular grounds, offerings, and amenities, and based on our experience, it’s well deserved. Upon entering The Phoenician, you're immediately greeted by their attentive staff and surrounded by stunning architecture, playing off the rocky mountainside upon which the grounds are situated while not distracting from the environment's natural beauty. With accommodations for every desire, guests can choose from a room, casita or suite, which all offer varying views of the property. Whether you opt for the Deluxe Mountain View King Guest room, which offers a balcony view of the rocky mountainside, or the Phoenician Suite, which offers a top floor view overlooking the pool, you'll be whisked away into a state of serenity by nature's surroundings wherever you choose to lay your head at night. The dining at The Phoenician is absolutely spectacular. We enjoyed beginning our days at the open-air Mowry & Cotton for breakfast, where I chose the green nectar juice and Chris had the Arizona sun juice, followed by a frozen acai bowl for me, the quinoa breakfast bowl for Chris, and a yogurt parfait for Lilah. The restaurant overlooks one of the many outdoor pools and lush greenery among the grounds. The smell of freshly baked bread permeates the air as it floats from their wood-burning oven located just steps away from your table. After hitting the green, Chris stopped at 19th Hole Grill and Patio for lunch, where he dined on their Tee It Up Tavern burger--truly delicious! Meanwhile, Lilah and I headed to Kalio Kabobery, where we shared the Sonoran avocado hummus, followed by the Kalio's Greek salad for me and a flatbread quesadilla for Lilah. Since this outdoor eatery is located poolside, we snagged the perfect spot by the pool afterward to soak up some post-lunch rays. Later that evening, Chris and I enjoyed a romantic date night at J&G Steakhouse, located on the rooftop of The Phoenician. Offering al fresco dining year-round, we enjoyed sitting fireside on the balcony while taking in the awe-inspiring view of the mountains and watching the sunset--turning the sky into a gradient of yellow, pink, purple, and blue. We recommend the shrimp cocktail, followed by the Classic J&G tasting menu, featuring black truffle cheese fritters, tuna tartare, parmesan risotto, a grilled filet mignon with a half roasted Maine lobster, and finished off with a warm chocolate cake--decadent, to say the least! Every vacation involves a little indulgence, so what better way to balance that out than with a trip to the gym? The 4,600 square foot Phoenician Athletic Club not only offers a spectacular view of Camelback Mountain but provides state-of-the-art equipment featuring Matrix machines, a basketball court, and "fitness on demand" technology for those yoga and spin lovers. - HIGH HAMPTON, NORTH CAROLINA
A rustic wonderland nestled in the North Carolina mountains is the woodsy oasis you've been looking for. High Hampton is a historic landmark property that's been given new life by the owners of one of our most beloved destinations, Blackberry Farm. Preserving the historic elements while implementing modern touches is a balance that has been beautifully achieved in every room of this legendary property. From the original wood-paneled walls to the colorful tapestries and linens, our room was the perfect balance of masculine and feminine, old and new, rustic and soft. It's the kind of place you dream of when you want to disconnect from life's busyness and rediscover nature through childlike eyes. The Inn served as a cozy respite for us between adventures and activities. The textural layers of our room--the original woodwork, the soft linens, and brass bedside lamps-- created an inviting space primed for curling up under the covers and diving into a book. Something unexpected that we loved was the absence of televisions in the rooms, which helped encourage us to unplug from technology and become one with the Blue Ridge Mountains. While our room felt quaint, it featured an incredibly spacious bathroom and walk-in closet--something Chris and I always appreciate. A booking tip to note: if you plan to visit High Hampton with your family, we recommend reserving the Halston Cottage Suite--each of the four rooms are connected to a charming living room where you can reconvene at the end of the day, while all four have their own private entrances to the outdoors. Upon arriving at High Hampton, Robert greeted us and took us on a tour of the property, educating us on the vast history of the resort dating back to 1922. Understanding the history of such a special place (including some friendly ghost stories!) made for a magical stay. Chris and I began each day with a workout in the fitness center, which has everything from Peloton bikes to TRX and Pilates studios. Any time of day at High Hampton is best spent outdoors surrounded by the Carolina High Country, so we partook in a game of croquet in the afternoon, followed by a refreshing drink afterward called "The Lakeside Ricky." As always, Chris can't visit any location without hitting the green, so we took a tour of the Tom Fazio 18-hole golf course to set up his tee time! The seemingly endless options of outdoor activities offered plenty of opportunities to take in the beautiful lake framed by the picturesque North Carolina mountains. Lilah and I enjoyed a mother-daughter sunset hike after touring the stunning Dahlia gardens, Chris and Lilah paddled out on a canoe to fish for crappie, bass, and trout, and we all three shared plenty of laughs while kayaking through the lake. Whether you're interested in a family-friendly hike, or a more rigorous experience for seasoned hikers, there are numerous options throughout High Hampton's grounds. And if you're looking to hit the courts, they offer five tennis courts (where we scheduled lessons for Lilah), four pickleball courts, and a basketball court (ideal for our boys!). After a long day on the water, I snuck away to The Spa for their signature deep massage, which incorporates local healing herbs and scents gathered from the ground's garden--highly recommend! Ping pong and corn hole are available on the lawn, as well as card games in the lobby including Old Maid, UNO, and checkers--a nostalgic touch reminiscent of my childhood. Not only does the resort offer a wide variety of outdoor activities, but they also made sure to include plenty for the young guests! From games to hikes, the Kids Club offers fun adventures daily for guests ages 5-12, and you can even catch the property's miniature donkeys--Ed and Fred--outside on your way in! At High Hampton, they pay as much attention to the fare as they do the grounds. We enjoyed breakfast together at The Dining Room, comfortable space with spectacular views and a mood-setting, wood-burning fireplace. I enjoyed the garden greens with a sunny-side-up egg, Chris chose the egg white vegetable frittata, and Lilah loved their blueberry and lemon zest ricotta pancakes--a delicious start to our days! Mitch's Lakeside is the perfect spot to grab drinks for the pool or a casual lunch. We popped in and ordered the blackberry mule before heading to The Tavern for lunch. At The Tavern, I enjoyed their beets and watercress salad with salmon, Chris chose the caesar salad with salmon, and Lilah dined on their tavern burger and gave a glowing review! Before dinner, Chris and I snuck away for a wine tasting (we recommend the Generations of Wine tasting) before reconvening with Lilah for a three-course dinner back at The Dining Room. Chris enjoyed the fresh North Carolina trout, I chose the fresh garden lettuce salad, followed by the roasted chicken, and Lilah dined on the leek and potato soup, followed by the sweet tea fried chicken. To finish off a spectacular meal, I savored the peaches and cream cake while Lilah relished her favorite item on the menu: fresh blueberry sorbet. Chris and I recommend High Hampton for our outdoor-loving, adventure-seeking clients and can happily say it's now on our family's list of "must go back" destinations. The charm and history of High Hampton are enough to make you fall in love, and if you fall hard, there are residences available to make it your full-time home. Trust us--you'll be tempted.
