  • SAN JOSE DEL CABO, MEXICO: LAS VENTANAS AL PARAISO, A ROSEWOOD RESORT

When Chris and I arrived at Las Ventanas al Paraiso, we were greeted with a feast for our eyes and the most delightful whipped margarita I’ve ever tasted! The pristine stucco architecture creates a meditative background, letting the naturally vibrant landscape and thoughtful design elements shine and speak for themselves. Las Ventanas boasts 350 days of sunshine, and with the warm welcome we received, I believe it! Wandering the impeccably landscaped grounds through this ultra-private resort, I was able to take in the beautiful balance of exquisite Mexican architectural touches. Large cacti, bromeliads, ferns, and grasses are peppered across the grounds and their exquisite beauty is only outdone by the seemingly endless Pacific / Sea of Cortez intersection. I’d be doing this resort a disservice by failing to mention the breathtaking fuchsia Bougainvillea that spills over balconies, splays across the crisp white stucco, and looks nearly artificial because it’s so beautiful! The Spa at Las Ventanas al Paraiso in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico We had no trouble staying busy, but would have been equally happy soaking in the tranquility at one of the eight pools – each featuring their own unique atmosphere! First on our agenda, as usual, checking out the spa + wellness centers. The Spa at Las Ventanas al Paraiso is centered around the four elements. Treatments are thoughtfully and artfully executed reflecting the masterful Baja healers of times passed. Earth, air, fire, and water working in perfect harmony to make you look and feel your very best while at this peaceful g! I opted for the Desert Stone Massage which starts with a warm foot soak and ends with zingy fresh fruit popsicle in this beautifully designed spa. Fitness at Las Ventanas al Paraiso in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico. As soon as we hit the gym, I noted the two Peloton bikes and spoke with the gym coordinator who was pleased to share they anticipate getting more. Of course, the resort offers a variety of adrenaline pumping activities off-site, but for those interested in getting their heart pumping as part of the gym’s programing I recommend their: yoga (Restorative, Alignment, Ashtanga, & more,) beach boot camp, HIIT, functional training, and total body pool workout. Each month this resort hosts a calendar of events that features different programs all throughout the day, for all fitness levels. Favorite feature: this resort hosts the most impressive post-workout protein shake bar I’ve seen! Chris and I had trouble choosing! I picked the COMBAT (Musclepharm) mix and as I write this I’m starting to crave another. This shake was formulated for people with active lifestyles and had lower sugar + carbs. But what’s a vacation without the food? We had to sample a bit of everything! Dinner at Las Ventanas al Paraiso in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico. We kicked off our magnificent evening in La Ventanas' own Tequila and Ceviche Bar with happy hour. Here they have a sampling of everything you love about the sea and you can taste the fresh flavors of San Jose Cabo dancing together in their crafted apps. Their seafood is caught and prepared fresh every day so it’s easy to eat healthy – even late at night! (Food is served here until 9pm) We made sure to have one romantic meal for just the two of us. We dined at the ultra sexy El Restaurante. It seems as though every element as this intimate corner of the resort was designed for romance – and as a mom of three – I’ll take a romantic evening with my husband whenever I can get it! The ambiance here is unlike any other. I love that this restaurant features family recipes from all over Mexico so that you’re able to truly savor the region during your visit in San Jose Cabo Lunch at Las Ventanas al Paraiso in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico. Chris and I ate our first lunch at Las Ventanas at the Sea Grill. The grill shared gorgeous Sea of Cortez views and had more fresh fish available than one could imagine. You have the option of a swim-up experience here, but we dined while dry. This spot uses a wood-burning grill so your grilled fish has an exquisite flavor that’s hard to achieve otherwise. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, so we weren’t able to enjoy everything this breathtaking resort has to offer but I’m sharing the link here. They have so many healthy and unique options! Pack your digital bags and follow us on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook as we explore each destination! • SUMMER DETOX DESTINATIONS

The season of the “Summer Bod” preparation is here! As warmer weather approaches, we all want to be looking our best when it's time to hit the beach. Everyone has their own workout routines and personal health goals they would like to achieve. However, we have narrowed down our list of wellness destinations to our top 6 locations for a pre summer detox. With a trip to one of these locales, you’ll be ready to hit the beach in no time! The Ranch, Malibu California: NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART! The Ranch isn't JUST a hotel with a beautiful spa and well-equipped gym built into it. The Ranch takes the health-inspired destination movement and multiplies it by 50, then adds a four-hour daily hike. A month before my scheduled trip to The Ranch (Chris sat this one out), they sent me a detailed packet with instructions carefully laying out how to prepare my body week by week leading up to my trip. My advice: Don't disregard this prep! Even as someone who makes it a point to be physically active in some way every day, prepping for hours of hiking intense trails requires weeks of building up stamina (something I had to focus on, as I'm not a huge fan of cardio). The prep includes everything from eliminating caffeine, to going to bed by 8:00 pm, to omitting all sugar from your diet and hiking two miles a day, then four, then six, and so on. This Wellness Destination will challenge you both mentally and physically, but I am here to say that this is one of the most unique detox trips I have ever been on! Carillion Miami, Miami Florida Detox in the beautiful Miami sun! This property has at least twenty group classes offered every single day – so there’s virtually no excuse to ever say you missed your class. Offering everything from TRX, Bootcamp, to aquatics, boxing, and more, I truly had a hard time deciding which to attend. After choosing classes and scoping the gym out, I formulated my game plan and hit the infrared sauna before my shower just as I would at home. I think it’s nice to add a touch of your home wellness routine to what you do on the road, because it’s so easy to experience sensory overload while traveling. Carillon does an impeccable job at including a vast amount of experiences and sharing helpful staff without being overwhelming. The spa offers everything you love about traditional spa treatments – and so much more. A Doctor of Oriental Medicine is there to provide acupuncture treatments, licensed counselors share a variety of specialized sessions, cryotherapy is available to help restore your body after intense expert-led workouts. I’ve found the Carillon truly has everything that’s needed to nourish your mind, body, and spirit. Chable Yucatan, Yucatan Mexico The natural Cenote at Chablé is the focal point of the healing journey, providing the curative foundations and tranquil setting for the development of their spa experiences. This wellness destination is where ancient mysticism blends with modern curiosity to bring about a new vocabulary of well-being. The Chablé Spa provides an intimate setting of tranquility, sophistication, and customization. The setting and elements used in authentic Mayan Ceremony, allows for a deep connection and profoundly moving experience as an initiation into the Chablé Healing Culture. Chablé is so much more than just a hotel. It is a health and wellness destination utilizing practices that have been around for thousands of years. Allow Chablé to reset your mind, body, and spirit. Complimentary juices will keep you hydrated after your full body workout. Fitness experts can guide you through best practices enhancing your form and help you create a regimen that works for your body type and fitness level. The gentle nudges to remain in the present at Miraval helped me truly make the most out of my stay. Feeling the sun on my skin, listening – really listening – to experts share their passions about self betterment and positive living, every sip, every stretch, every sunset. The wonderfully arranged menu of moments at Miraval are yours forever and that’s why it’s my pleasure and privilege as a wellness traveler to share more about each of the three properties: Arizona, Austin (opened September 2019), and Berkshires (opened Winter 2019). Mii Amo & Enchantment Two very different complementary experiences are shared by these luxurious escapes, both properties serving to welcome and enhance the lives of all who enter. The spa at Mii amo in Sedona has been named the #1 Destination Spa in the U.S. in Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards 2018 and for good reason. This spa enchants the mind, body, and soul in such an artful way it gives me goosebumps to recall my visit. To choose among the assortment of treatments like their traditional, innovative, or Native American influenced therapies was nearly impossible with the many options that these properties offer! My Favorites at Mii amo Spa Massage Intentional Aromatherapy Massage uses a special blend of aromatic oils and treatments to soothe your body and mind. Capturing your senses, this massage seeps deep into your being. I am a great believer in the benefits of Cupping massage therapies so I was excited to see this is also offered here. Full Body Treatments Pinion Body Scrub is comprised of local pinon nuts that are ground and smoothed over your skin providing the utmost relaxation and exfoliation. After you’ve revealed healthy, fresh skin, your therapist finishes the treatment with the rich and aromatic pinon butter. Divine! Facial The Oxygen Facial is designed to heal and comfort desert-dried skin. Promoting collagen and elastin production, this incredible facial left my skin feeling plump and renewed after the wear of the dry desert weather. For the Soul True to the properties’ philosophies, Mii amo Spa offers experiences that pay homage to the healing ceremonies and special rituals of the Native American heritage. Reading of the Moment is an offering found at the spa that you may not find at every luxe spa getaway. • HOTEL ESENCIA, MEXICO

Booking a luxurious getaway is a necessity (if you ask us), but the part that most people fail to ensure is that their destination is truly a getaway. The idea is to vacate the responsibilities of your day-to-day life, escape the chaos and noise, and relax and recharge in peace. We're here to tell you, there is no better place to truly get away than Hotel Esencia in Xpu-Ha, Mexico. While originally owned by an Italian Duchess as a 50-acre private estate, current owner Kevin Wendle purchased the property in 2014 to transform into the beloved Hotel Esencia. From the incomparable hospitality to the finest culinary dishes we've experienced at a resort, it's no surprise that this majestic hideaway is frequented by celebrities and Fortune 500 executives looking for the utmost in luxury and privacy. Situated behind a rather unassuming entrance, a driver meets guests and escorts them through the lush jungle, delivering them to a suite, which appears to emerge from the tropical surround and open to the serene backdrop of a private beach. Wendle spared no expense making sure guests of Hotel Esencia forget they're at a hotel altogether and instead feel transported to a secluded family compound where the sole priority is your peace. The thoughtful design of each suite and villa is a direct reflection of the vibrant color and natural textures found in the jungle, which awaits guests just steps from their private entrances. With maid service twice daily, a 24-hour concierge, express dry cleaning and laundry service, as well as packing and unpacking services, the staff at Hotel Esencia make sure the only time you ever lift a finger is to bring your mezcal to your lips. Hotel Esencia delivers on their dedication to provide elite service to their guests-- including straight from their kitchen. In order to provide the absolute best culinary experience, Wendle doubled the kitchen staff in order to serve everything fresh from their garden. Chris and I loved starting our mornings at Coffee Bar & Juice Bar, where I selected the Jugo Verde juice and Chris the El Vampiro juice, followed by the Health Blast Superfood bowl and Longevity Boost Super Food Bowl, while overlooking the crystal clear ocean. For lunch, we dined under the "palapa" of Mistura, which features a Mexican gastronomic menu. Chris and I shared the Guacamole Mistura, followed by the Ensalada Jason Wu for me (absolutely delightful!) and the fresh catch of the day--the Pescado a la Veracruzana--for Chris, which he reported was "grilled to perfection"! At nightfall, we ventured out into the lush Palm Garden of BeefBar, where our table was illuminated by market lights strung between the palm trees, romantic lanterns adorning the grass, and moonlight. We began with the Gyozas, Super Kale Salad, and Beet Salad, followed by the Ginger Seabream for myself and Wagyu Beef for Chris. I can imagine no better setting for a romantic date night! In true Well Inspired Travels fashion, we arrived to Hotel Esencia just as they were opening their Rooftop Wellness Suites (an addition to their already existing Fitness Gym). These suites offer a spacious environment to continue your fitness regimen in the confines of your villa, equipped with a Peloton bike, virtual trainer MIRROR, Technogym weights, Swiss ball, TRX and yoga mats. Guests can also partake in Sunrise Yoga daily at 8am in an open air palapa. After connecting with our bodies through movement, I made my way to the Esencia Spa, where I began my relaxation journey in their traditional Mayan kitchen laboratory-- the place where therapists tailor-make skin purifying elixirs from ingredients found in the Caribbean waters and Mayan jungle. I began with the Stress Relief Massage, which utilizes mint, pepper, cloves, and rosemary via hot therapy on the points of the body that hold stress, followed by the Tata Harper Express Facial. Lastly, I enjoyed the Copal Ritual--a skin renewing exfoliation treatment followed by a relaxing body wrap of white clay and copal to reveal a revitalized complexion while stimulating blood circulation. Once my spa treatments were complete, I retired to a private plunge pool to extend my respite. I fancy myself quite a luxury spa critic and must say that Esencia Spa is officially in my top three! During your stay at Hotel Esencia, an experience Chris and I highly recommend is requesting a personal lifeguard (ours was Pasqual) to escort you to the private Cenote experience. We stand-up paddle boarded through a picturesque Cenote and were lucky enough to view a family of manatees who inhabited the water system. They were friendly and quite curious as to what was on the top side of the paddle boards! It was an incredibly special experience we'll never forget. Snorkeling with sea turtles, diving through the second largest coral reef, and deep sea fishing are just a few other water activities to enjoy during your stay, but if you prefer land, consider hitting the green on their 27-hole golf course surrounded by the Mayan jungle or explore the Mayan ruins of Tulum--both offering spectacular views. It's clear the beauty of Xpu-Ha, Mexico's rich jungle, white sand beaches, and piercing blue waters is nearly impossible to compete with, but it's the seclusion and superior hospitality that differentiates Hotel Esencia, and therefore, will entice you back for years to come.

  • IRELAND

Historic cathedrals and castles, lush greenery as far as the eye can see, and a culture known for friendly banter over a pint of "the black stuff" (also known as Guinness), Ireland is arguably one of the most beautiful countries on Earth. With its quaint, colorful neighborhoods like Cobh, Kinsale, and Galway, to the beautiful waters of Coral Beach and Killarney National Park, you're sure to be overwhelmed with instagrammable moments at every stop. For the best possible experience, Chris and I recommend traveling to Ireland between March and May or September and November--you'll avoid the crowds, as well as the colder winter temps! The Shelbourne If walls could talk, those in The Shelbourne would tell of how the Irish Constitution was drafted in one of the suites upstairs. (An original copy is among the historic docs in the on-site museum.) One of Dublin’s oldest hotels with a primo perch across from Saint Stephen’s Green, the 265-room hotel looks ready for another swank century, with plenty of brocade and rich fabrics. Work up a sweat in the dance studio, or wind down in the spa’s park-view Relaxation Room. Locals hold court at No. 27 Bar and The Saddle Room restaurant’s oyster bar; afternoon tea in Lord Mayor’s Lounge is a tradition. WIT Tip: Looking to trace your Irish ancestry? The hotel’s Genealogy Butler is one of Ireland’s leading genealogists and can help you navigate family history with a sense of fun and adventure. The Westbury A member of the prestigious Leading Hotels of the World, The Westbury places its guests at the very heart of Dublin’s social and cultural riches. Its prime location between Trinity College and Saint Stephen’s Green means Dublin’s Creative Quarter, with the characterful boutiques and famous nightlife of Grafton Street, which is right on the hotel’s doorstep. Meanwhile, inside there are The Sidecar’s creative cocktails; the 1930s glamour of WILDE, one of the city’s finest restaurants; Balfes’ open kitchen and outdoor terrace; and, of course, The Gallery – renowned for afternoon tea – the epitome of this haven of luxury. WIT Tip: In addition to delectable afternoon tea, The Gallery offers a wide array of smoothies; be sure to ask to see their juice menu. Adare Manor Adare Manor is a five-star luxury resort defined by its spectacular setting, authentic historic character, and the impeccable service and welcome of its world-class staff. The 104 guest rooms are air-conditioned and lavishly appointed with original art, Georgian style furnishings, and marble bathrooms. For fine dining, visit The Carriage House for cocktails and classic Irish cuisine or The Oak Room with renowned chef Michael Tweedie. Get out on the greens at the pristine golf course, redesigned by Tom Fazio and the forthcoming host venue for the 2026 Ryder Cup. Or, relax with a nourishing La Mer skin treatment at The Spa. WIT Tip: Don't miss the charming tea service – without a doubt, the best in Ireland. Ballyfin With a glorious history that includes a painstaking, nine-year restoration, Ballyfin regains its throne as one of Ireland’s most lavish country retreats. Reigning over a sprawling 614-acre estate dotted with follies and grottoes, this 20-bedroom Regency manor house has been authentically refurbished, from the Chippendale mirrors right down to the antique mosaic floors. The estate also has a newly renovated one-bedroom Gardener's Cottage. Food is sourced from the garden and local farms. Activities range from falconry and fishing the tranquil lake to enjoying cooking demonstrations and whiskey tastings in the cellar. WIT Tip: Take afternoon tea in the drawing room in 18th-century period attire, loads of fun for all ages. Or, have dinner for two in the wine cellar or china room. The Killarney Park The family-owned The Killarney Park is a treasured hideaway. Spa enthusiasts will love The Spa, with its relaxation lounge and caldarium.
